World markets today: US stocks muted, investors await economic data
US stock indices opened muted on Monday as investors are awaiting economic data including inflation.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 14.93 points, or 0.04 per cent, at the open to 38,656.76. The S&P 500 opened higher by 0.22 points at 5,026.83, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 10.05 points, or 0.06 per cent, to 15,980.62 at the opening bell.
On Friday (February 9) , the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 54.64 points, or 0.14 per cent, to 38,671.69, the S&P 500 gained 28.70 points, or 0.57 per cent, to 5,026.61 and the Nasdaq Composite gained 196.95 points, or 1.25 per cent, to 15,990.66.
